Sync

Everything you write is saved on this Mac first, then sent to your cloud copy in the background. Without internet it waits here and goes up once you are back.

Nightly copy

Every night at 2, everything is also written out as plain markdown files, so Claude and any other tool can read it. A copy only: changes made there are not read back.

Import

Your vault, a Day One export or a vCard file comes in when the import is run by hand on this Mac, never from here. It only reads what it is pointed at and can run again safely: what you changed here since is kept, and what you deleted stays deleted.

Google

Your Google calendars, read every minute while the Calendar is open, and changed from here where you switch editing on. Your Google sign-in stays on this Mac, in its .env file; the web and your phone ask this Mac to send changes.

…

Calendar links

Calendars you subscribe to by their iCal link. Read only: the app reads them every ten minutes and never changes them. The link is kept in this Mac's .env file only, never shown again.

Add a calendar

Where do I find it?

Google: Settings, the calendar, “Secret address in iCal format”. Outlook: Settings, Shared calendars, Publish a calendar, the ICS link. iCloud: share the calendar as Public Calendar and copy its link.
